Pineapple Pete & Wasabi Charlie
Welfare Road, Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten
A lively Simpson Bay classic
Pineapple Pete & Wasabi Charlie is one of Simpson Bay’s easiest recommendations when a group wants a broad menu, a lively atmosphere and more than just dinner. The restaurant is located at Welfare Road 56, in the Cole Bay / Simpson Bay area, across from the movie theater and only a few minutes from nearby marinas, hotels and residences.
It works as a full restaurant and bar: Caribbean and American plates, seafood, burgers, ribs, steaks, salads, pastas, lobster thermidor specialties, plus sushi and Japanese dishes from Wasabi Charlie. That variety makes it useful for families and mixed groups, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options listed in public sources.
The tourist appeal is also the atmosphere. Pineapple Pete has a busy bar, sports screens, live music on selected nights, a large pool room, darts and an arcade. It is a good option after the beach, before a Simpson Bay night out, or when you want a covered, air-conditioned alternative to a beach restaurant.
Practical tip: book ahead on weekend evenings, especially with a group. Parking is usually easier than in Grand Case, but Welfare Road can be busy in high season. Public hours list Tuesday as closed, service from 11 AM on the other days, closing around 9:30 PM Monday and Wednesday, and 10 PM Thursday through Sunday; check before heading out as schedules may change.
