Perched on Sentry Hill, within the historic Rockland Estate, Rainforest Adventures is Sint Maarten’s adventure park. The offer bookable on Viator is The Big Three, the full experience that combines the park’s main rides in about 5 hours.
You start with the Sky Explorer, a panoramic chairlift up to the top of Sentry Hill, the island’s highest point at 1,125 feet. Platforms there offer 360° views over the sea and the neighboring islands of Saba, St. Eustatius, St. Barts and Anguilla. You then fly back down on the Flying Dutchman, the steepest zip line in the world, seated in a secure harness at up to 56 mph.
Back at the top, you clip onto the Sentry Hill Zipline, which runs along the mountain ridge, before ending with the Schooner Ride, an inner tube ride down the mountain. Instructions are given before each ride, so beginners can join in. Entry to the Emilio Wilson Museum, which tells the story of slavery on the estate, is included.
The price is USD 159 per adult and about USD 144 for children 7 to 12, a rate that only applies when they share the booking with 2 paying adults. Riders must be between 52 and 80 inches tall and weigh between 100 and 275 lbs. Food, drinks, souvenir photos and transport are not included. On Viator, this package is sold by Elite Shore Excursions.
Thrill seekers, families with children 7 and over, cruise passengers
Days without cruise ships are the quietest. The full circuit can take up to 5 hours when there are lines, so start early. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring sunscreen and water.
