About
On Sunday, October 18, 2026, Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) hands its runway over to walkers for the Princess Walk, held with the Elektralyets Foundation and the Positive Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is the second time the walk takes place on the runway: out and back at dawn, before the airport's day gets going.
This year's theme, "Crown Yourself with Courage: Lace Up, Step Up, Check Up!", urges women to put their health first, keep up with regular screenings and understand why early detection matters.
How the morning runs:
4:00 a.m.: check-in and sign-up in the terminal building.
4:45 a.m.: first buses to the runway.
5:15 a.m.: last bus.
5:30 a.m.: the walk starts, along the runway and back.
Water and Johnny Cakes are provided.
Registration is mandatory for every participant, children aged 6 and up included, with one form per person. It costs USD 20 and includes the official T-shirt. T-shirts are picked up at the Meet & Greet area of the arrivals hall from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursday, October 8, Saturday, October 10 and Thursday, October 15, cash or card. Proceeds go to both foundations to fund awareness, education and early detection.
All through October, the terminal facade is lit in pink and a pink ribbon stands at the airport in memory of women lost to the disease and in honor of survivors and those in treatment.
