Star Wars and movie museum on Front Street in Philipsburg
Front Street, Philipsburg, Sint Maarten
Hours
11:00 - 15:00
Duration
approx. 1h00
Starting from

In the middle of Front Street, Philipsburg’s shopping street, the Yoda Guy Movie Exhibit houses the private collection of Nick Maley, the creature effects artist known as “that Yoda Guy” for his part in creating Yoda for The Empire Strikes Back. The offer bookable on Viator is an entrance ticket for a self-guided visit at your own pace.
You check in at the museum shop, then walk through a series of small rooms narrated by holograms and videos. On the Star Wars side, you will see Darth Vader with a hologram of actor Dave Prowse, the creation of Yoda, the creatures of the Mos Eisley Cantina, Han Solo in carbonite, the Ewoks, the Tusken Raiders and early drafts of the Episode IV script.
The visit also covers the work of Nick Maley and his colleagues on Superman, Highlander, The Shining, The Terminator, Alien and Men in Black, with storyboards and a gallery of life casts of stars, from Johnny Depp to Harrison Ford, plus historical masks such as Abraham Lincoln’s. On some days, you may meet Nick Maley himself. The shop sells memorabilia signed by the actors of the saga.
The ticket costs USD 25, taxes included, and gives unlimited access for the day. Plan about an hour. The museum is open Monday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Narration is in English only, photos are allowed without flash and the visit includes stairs.
Star Wars and movie fans, families, cruise passengers in port in Philipsburg, and anyone looking for an indoor visit out of the sun or the rain.
Come at 11 a.m. when it opens, before the cruise crowds. The ticket gives unlimited access for the day, so you can go out for lunch on Front Street and come back. Take time to listen to the holograms: that is where the filming stories are.
