Galisbay
Galisbay, Marigot's urban shoreline
Galisbay sits at the northwest entrance of Marigot, close to the port, waterfront and services of French Saint Martin's capital. It is an urban, practical beach area and should be approached differently from the island's postcard beaches.
The area is useful for walking, watching port activity, taking photos toward Marigot Bay and pausing near town. The beach can be pleasant in good weather, but it is not the best choice for a full beach day with children, loungers and perfect swimming water.
Swimming depends heavily on shoreline conditions, weather and activity around the port. Some sections may be rocky, with seaweed, natural debris or less clear water after rain or swell. Check the sea before entering, stay close to shore and avoid swimming near boat traffic areas.
Galisbay's main advantage is location: you are close to Marigot, the market, Fort Louis, shops and the road toward Grand Case or Nettle Bay. For visitors, it works best as a passing stop, walk and photo spot combined with a Marigot visit.
Bring light shoes, water and sun protection. Parking is usually easier than at small residential beaches, but it still varies by time of day, events and port activity.
