Entry Requirements for Saint Martin
Prepare for your arrival with peace of mind. Here are the mandatory steps and documents needed to travel to Saint Martin / Sint Maarten.
New since October 2024
The digital immigration form ED Card is now mandatory for all arrivals via Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM).
Step 1: Fill out the ED Card (entry.sx)
The ED Card (Embarkation / Disembarkation Card) is an online immigration form. It allows authorities to monitor entries, speed up your passage at the airport, and improve security.
To be completed up to 7 days before your flight.
- All travelers without exception (tourists, business, transit).
- Children and minors (each person must have their own form).
Exception: Official residents of Sint Maarten do not need to fill it out and have a dedicated line.
You will need to provide basic information:
- Personal info: name, date of birth, nationality, passport details.
- Your travel: flight number, arrival date, country of departure.
- Your stay: address of your hotel or accommodation, planned duration.
- Contact: email (to receive the QR code) and phone number.
No. The ED Card is not a visa. It is an administrative entry form (similar to the ESTA for the US).
For most travelers (Europe, Canada, USA), no visa is required for a tourist stay of less than 90 days.
Step 2: Prepare your ID documents
The island has two airports located in two different countries. Your arrival airport determines the document you must present.
Princess Juliana Airport (SXM)
Dutch sideEven if you are European and staying on the French side, a passport is required because you are landing outside the European Union.
Grand Case Airport (SFG)
French sideFor flights from mainland France (via Guadeloupe) or the French West Indies. A valid ID card is sufficient for French and European citizens.
Step 3: Conditions based on your nationality
Check if you need a visa depending on your passport.
Step 4: On site, move freely
Once you pass airport controls, you are free!
There is no physical border between the French side (Saint-Martin) and the Dutch side (Sint Maarten). You can cross the island from end to end with no checkpoints, no customs, and no passport checks.
