A Saint-Martin landmark on the Simpson Bay Lagoon

Topper's is one of the most iconic addresses on the Dutch side of Saint Martin. Run for over eighteen years by Todd "Topper" Daquisto, who proudly carries his Sicilian heritage into the kitchen, the venue brings together under one roof a family-owned restaurant, a lively bar, an award-winning rhum distillery, an artisan Italian gelateria and a gift shop. Everything sits inside an iconic sixteen-sided waterfront building right on the Simpson Bay Lagoon, the largest lagoon in the Caribbean.

Inside, the decor is striking: marble floors, a grand chandelier, Italian cerulean blue tile mosaics and floor-to-ceiling windows looking directly onto the yachts at anchor. The menu blends international and Caribbean cuisine with a clear Italian-American touch. Regulars come back for the house burger, regularly voted best on the island, prime rib, seafood pasta, Sicilian-style chicken piccata, locally caught lobster, coconut shrimp with piña colada dipping sauce and the fish and chips.

Topper's is also a night-out spot. The bar runs daily happy hours and the place is famous across the island for its almost-nightly karaoke and its Thursday Broadway dance show. The on-site distillery, named USA Today's Best Caribbean Rum Distillery several years in a row, offers guided tours with rhum tastings at 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm. To finish your meal, twenty-six flavors of Italian gelato are made fresh on site daily.

Practical tip for travelers: Topper's is open 7 days a week from 8:30 am, making it a great option for a post-landing lunch or a dinner-show evening. Reservations are recommended on weekends and on show nights. Free on-site parking and very easy access from Simpson Bay, Maho or the marina.
