A feet-in-the-sand beach bar in the heart of Grand Case

Tropic's Beach Bar SXM sits at 186 Boulevard de Grand Case, right on the beach. You walk under the sign between two palm trees, cross the wooden deck and find yourself facing the bay, with red umbrellas, sun loungers and sailboats at anchor. The bar opened in 2023 and is run by two cousins: Alain, a bartender for more than twenty-five years, and François, who handles the grill.

The menu focuses on Caribbean dishes, tapas and seafood: seared tuna tataki, fish ceviche, catch of the day fillet, a homemade burger with fries and fresh salads. On Fridays and Sundays, the grill turns out ribs, chicken and fresh fish. At the bar, the house cocktails, juices and smoothies are the main draw, best enjoyed in the shade of an umbrella.

The mood changes through the day. In the daytime, it is a relaxed spot for lunch by the water or a break between swims, with family or friends. On Friday nights, the bar stays open until 2 am with a DJ playing kompa, zouk, R&B and Caribbean music, and Sundays often bring live music or a DJ into the evening. The lineup changes, so check the bar's social media before you go.

The bar is open from 10 am to 6 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, from 10 am to 2 am on Friday and from 10 am to 11 pm on Sunday. It is closed on Monday. Parking on the boulevard can take some patience in high season: if you are staying in Grand Case, walking over is the easiest option.
