JW Marriott St. Maarten Beach Resort & Spa is a large luxury resort on Dawn Beach, in the Oyster Pond area on the Dutch side. The property opened under the JW Marriott brand on the former Westin Dawn Beach site, with a clear positioning: upscale beachfront resort, full services, spa, varied dining and international hotel comfort.

The resort has around 200 rooms and suites, including categories focused on ocean views, balconies, selected plunge-pool rooms and larger suites. It is best suited to travelers who prefer a full resort structure rather than a small boutique hotel.

On site, Marriott highlights eight restaurants and bars, including poolside dining, a lobby bar, international dining concepts and a JW Market for simpler grab-and-go needs. The resort also offers an outdoor pool, beach, cabanas, fitness center, kids club, Hibiscus Spa and spaces for weddings or events.

The main advantage is convenience: everything is on property, with an international brand, solid hotel capacity and reassuring services for families, couples and Marriott Bonvoy travelers. The location is quieter and more isolated than Simpson Bay, Maho or Grand Case, so a rental car is useful for dinners out, beach hopping and nightlife.

Good to know: Dawn Beach faces the Atlantic side. Conditions may vary with wind, swell or sargassum. If a perfect swimming beach is your top priority, compare it with Orient Bay, Grand Case, Mullet Bay or Anse Marcel.
