La Favela
The most transportive dinner spot in Orient Bay Village
La Favela is the kind of place you pick when the beach day is over, but you are not ready to call it a night. Set on Place du Village in Orient Bay, it fits the neighborhood’s energy well: arrive in sandals or relaxed evening clothes, sit under the warm lights, and let dinner become the start of the night.
The setting is a big part of the experience. Inside feels more intimate, with wood, plants, sofas and a jungle-like mood, while the tables on the square are livelier and better for watching Orient Bay Village move around you. This is not a formal fine-dining room and it is not a toes-in-the-sand beach restaurant. Think of it as a tropical evening canteen, sociable, colorful and different from the more classic French tables nearby.
The menu works especially well for groups that like sharing before choosing a main course. Start with cod fritters, stuffed crab, coconut shrimps, guacamole, ceviche tacos or pulled brisket tacos. Then the food moves between the Caribbean and Latin America: chicken colombo, sausage rougail, fajitas, ribs, flank steak with chimichurri, BBQ octopus with Creole sauce, king prawns with curry and coconut milk, coconut-milk ceviche, and lobster when available.
On the drinks side, La Favela is a good first stop for a cocktail before dinner. Passion-fruit mojitos and caipirinhas match the room perfectly, and the list also covers beer, wine and champagne if the table settles in for a longer evening. Traveler feedback often points to the lobster, friendly service and the convenience of having the whole Village within walking distance.
Practical tip: book during high season if you want an outdoor table, especially from December to April. For an easy evening, arrive around 6:30 PM, order several plates to share, then keep room for fish or grilled meat. La Favela opens from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM Wednesday through Monday and closes on Tuesday. It is a strong no-car dinner choice if you are staying in Orient Bay, and an easy stop after Orient Bay Beach.
