Hero of the Seas: first Philipsburg call on August 24, 2027
Royal Caribbean’s newest Icon Class ship is scheduled to make its first St. Maarten call on August 24, 2027, on its first Eastern Caribbean sailing from Miami.

Cruise guests eyeing St. Maarten in 2027 have a new ship on the calendar: Hero of the Seas, the fourth Icon Class vessel from Royal Caribbean. Current itineraries put its first call in Philipsburg on August 24, 2027, less than two weeks after passenger service begins from Miami (August 11).

A typical pattern: leave Miami on August 21 for a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise, two days at sea, then arrive in St. Maarten at 8 a.m. and sail at 5 p.m. The voyage continues to St. Thomas on August 25 and Perfect Day at CocoCay on August 27, back to Miami on the 28th. A second Philipsburg visit is already listed for August 31, suggesting the island stays on Eastern Caribbean rotations rather than a one-off inaugural stop.

Onboard, Hero builds on the Icon Class playbook (nine pools, waterpark, expanded dining) with announced additions such as a New Orleans-inspired supper club, a three-deck Ultimate Family Treehouse, and an updated adults-only Hideaway. For a shore day, the 8 a.m.-5 p.m. window leaves time for Philipsburg, a nearby beach, or a day trip to the French side (Marigot, Grand Case, Orient Bay), subject to the final call times.
