Kalatua
A Mediterranean beach lounge on Cupecoy / Mullet Bay beach
Kalatua is a gastronomic beach lounge tucked at the southern end of Cupecoy beach, right where it meets Mullet Bay. The place stands out for its understated Tulum-style vibe: wooden sun loungers on the white sand, off-white umbrellas, palm trees and a dining room that opens fully onto the turquoise water and what is arguably one of the most photogenic stretches of coastline in Saint-Martin.
The kitchen is led by Chef Gil Dumoulin, a former Michelin-starred chef, who designed a polished, mostly homemade Mediterranean menu (around 90% made on site). Lunch favorites include burrata with heirloom tomatoes, fish carpaccio with edible flowers, risotto, plancha-grilled sea bream with pea coulis, roasted spiny lobster and mussel linguine. Mornings begin with a Parisian-style breakfast and the late afternoon shifts into a sunset tapas service.
Behind the bar, Kalatua focuses on cocktails and mocktails built around cold-pressed juices: order the bestselling Watermelon Por Favor, the Amalfi Spritz or the Beach Detox. Practical tip for visitors: park at the dedicated lot and use the free shuttle down to the beach. Book your lounger ahead in high season (USD 48 per set in the front row, USD 35 in the second row) and pair the day with sunset over Cupecoy or Mullet Bay.
